Research Interests : Soil and water engineering

Majed M Abu-Zreig is currently a distinguished visiting professor of soil and water engineering at the International Platform for Dryland Research and Education (IPDRE). He has more than 22 years of experience in teaching, research, community service and administration mainly at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. He received his BSc in Civil Engineering, MS in Water and Environmental Engineering and PhD from University of Guelph/Canada in the area of water quality management. Prof. Abu-Zreig has gained wide international research experiences through his work and collaboration with international researchers and institutions worldwide including, University of Guelph/Canada, University of Prague/Check Republic, University of Stuttgart, Technical University of Hamburg-Harbrug/Germany, technical University of Berlin, Von Humboldt University, University of Minho/Portugal, and University of Tsukuba/Japan.

Prof. Abu-Zreig’s current field of research include water management, arid land hydrology, water harvesting, non-point source pollution and modeling, and wastewater treatment and reuse. He focuses on system efficiency of fragile environment. He concentrates on how to maximize the production of agricultural systems through maximizing the beneficial use of soil, rainwater and water reuse. In fragile environment, sustainable low input and low output systems could produce food and fibers for those needy and poor communities. In those related area of research, Prof. Abu-Zreig published more than 36 journal papers and more than 30 international conference papers, book chapters and consultation reports with more than 1000 Google scholars citation record.
